Sweet sixteen for City
 Women's Football News 8 Sep 2014
Glasgow City moved closer towards another Scottish Women's Premier League title after running out 4-0 winners over Aberdeen at Airdrie Excelsior Stadium.
Suzanne Lappin netted a double and further goals from Fiona Brown and Abbi Grant gave City their sixteenth league win in succession.
Rangers kept their slim hopes of the title alive by winning the Old Firm clash 4-0 against Celtic. Hayley Cunningham gave them the lead on the stroke of half time and in the second half, Suzanne Mulvey added a brace and Erin Cuthbert completed the scoring.
Hibernian cemented themselves in third place by winning their own local derby, beating Spartans 2-0 at Easter Road. Lucy Graham put Hibs in front midway through the first half and there were chances for both sides in an end-to-end battle before Rachel Walkingshaw sewed up the points in injury time via a spectacular long range lob.
Hamilton Academical are now four points ahead in the bottom section following a successful trip to the north east, winning 3-0 away to Buchan Ladies.
Hutchison Vale meanwhile got back to winning ways, coming from behind to record a 2-1 victory at Queen's Park, Laura Gavin scoring both goals.
Forfar Farmington strengthend their survival chances by defeating Inverness City 3-1. Holly Napier, Alana Bruce and an Alex Russell penalty ensured that Farmington opened up a four point gap over the bottom two.
