City duo help sink former club
 Women's Football News 22 Sep 2014
Everton 0 Manchester City (Scott 6, Johnson og 60, Duggan 90)
Everton Ladies suffered a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City courtesy of strikes from Jill Scott, Toni Duggan and a Lindsay Johnson own goal.
The Blues welcomed Nikita Parris back to their starting eleven, but were on the receiving end of a number of misfortunes in the side's final home game of the WSL season.
Andy Spence's side found themselves chasing the match early, when former Toffee Scott diverted a looping effort towards goal from a Krystle Johnston cross on five minutes. Everton custodian Megan Walsh was left with no chance as the midfielder's rather fortuitous shot found the bottom corner of the net.
The hosts refused to feel sorry for themselves and gallantly searched for a response. Danielle Turner's electric pace caused the Citizens problems, but her centres failed to find her intended targets.
Brooke Chaplen had Everton's best effort of the first half, a 20-yard volley going narrowly wide after her persistence forced an error from City's Stephanie Houghton.
But it was the visitors who finished the half the stronger, Scott blazing over from six yards after the Blues failed to clear Johnston's free kick.
Spence rung an early change for the second period, Lucy Whipp was introduced to provide more support for Parris, who wasted a good chance to restore parity with a tame effort following good work from Chaplen.
City then enjoyed a second stroke of luck, Lindsay Johnson turning the ball into her own net after a swift counter attack from the visitors.
Everton bravely continued the fight, but the Citizens' backline remained firm and with the game stretched, the Blues found themselves hopelessly outnumbered at the rear, allowing former Toffees' favourite Duggan time to pick her mark and settle matters from close range.
Everton: Megan Walsh, Vicky Jones, Alex Greenwood, Brooke Chaplen, Gabrielle George, Lindsay Johnson, Danielle Turner, Michelle Hinnigan, Nikita Parris, Millie Turner (sub Lucy Whipp 45mins), Kelly Jones.

Manchester City: Karen Bardsley, Abbie McManus, Georgia Brougham, Betsy Hassett (sub Nicki Harding 64mins), Chelsea Nightingale (sub Keira Walsh 48mins), Steph Houghton, Krystle Johnston (sub Emma Kete 81mins), Jill Scott, Toni Duggan, Natasha Flint, Issy Christiansen.
