Sue receives award

Sue receives award - 7 Oct 2014 - Women's Football NewsThe Charlton Athletic women's team would like to congratulate club secretary Sue Prior on winning the award for Outstanding Contribution to Women's Football at the London FA Awards 2014 last week.
It is not the first prestigious accolade Sue has received, as she also scooped the special achievement prize at the FA Women's Football Awards back in 2010.
Prior has been a stalwart of women's football in the capital for almost 30 years, starting her playing career with her childhood club Charlton. She also held on and off field positions at Chelsea, Millwall and Croydon before re-joining the Addicks.
She said: "I was surprised and very honoured to get this award from the London FA especially as there are so many other magnificent volunteers across London who work tirelessly for womens and girls football clubs.
"Although I was the one that picked up the award it's not just for me, it's for Charlton Athletic and all those female players I have worked with over the years as without them there would be no job for me to do."
Sue has been responsible for the resurrection of the Charlton women's team after the club's funding was cut in 2007 and the Charlton Athletic Community Trust took over running of the club, when she became club secretary.
With her help and support, Paul Mortimer, who was at the awards ceremony, guided the Addicks back into the FA Women's Premier League National Division. Latterly, Sue has assisted current chairman Stephen King and is the heart of the club, giving up her time voluntarily for the cause
King, who is chief executive of Charlton women's shirt sponsor PHSC plc, paid tribute to the work Sue has done for the club. He said: "When I was made aware that the London FA was inviting nominations for this award, I was delighted to put Sue's name forward.
"Soon after I became involved with the club back in 2010, it became clear to me just how much we depend on Sue's commitment and dedication.
"Winning this award is a fitting recognition for everything she does for Charlton Athletic, and for women's and girls' football in general. I can not think of anyone more deserving of this accolade."
