Burnley Girls & Ladies have the chance to renew old acquaintances this week when they play Morecambe in the Third Round Qualifying of the FA Women's Cup.
A win over Mersey Girls in the last round earned Burnley a tie against the team which won the North West League title last season, earning themselves promotion to the Premier League in the process.
Burnley manager Phil Leedham commented: "Our draw against Morecambe presents the team with a significant challenge. We have not gained any points from our league encounters over the last few seasons and Morecambe have progressed upwards in the pyramid. However we have improved and have a great set of players who have ambition and are competing against the best in our league.
"This is a chance to benchmark ourselves against opposition from a higher league and that we hope to ensure Morecambe know they have a game on their hands and with a bit of cup magic, who knows."
Team captain Jo Holt has FA Women's Cup experience with previous club Curzon Ashton when they made it all the way to the quarter finals against Fulham. She says: "I know what a feel good factor the FA Cup can bring to a club. The girls are really looking forward to the game and pitting their wits against a team in the combination."
Star striker Becky Hayton added: "Morecambe are a tough and very hard team to beat but we are up for the challenge."
