Glasgow City re-wrote the history books once more after defeating Spartans 5-0 to lift the Scottish Cup and in turn their third domestic treble in a row.
City continued a remarkable week where they reached the quarter finals of the Champions League with an accomplished performance against Spartans, with goals from Fiona Brown (2), Jo Love (2) and Denise O'Sullivan sealing the win.
Brown gave City the lead after 26 minutes with a trademark exquisite curling strike from just inside the box. The young striker has scored some fantastic goals at the highest level in Europe this season and she showed once more her eye for goal as she cut in from the right before unleashing a left foot curling shot into the top corner.
Denise O'Sullivan made it 2-0 right on half time as she calmly picked her spot to fire past Rachel Harrison in the Spartans goal after being set up by Abbi Grant.
After the break, Brown made it 3-0 after Harrison could only parry a Susan Fairlie strike. Jo Love, who scored an excellent goal from distance in midweek against Zurich in the Champions League, showed her skill once more as she buried a shot past Harrison from the edge of the box.
Love was on target again in the closing minutes as she sent a clever lob over Harrison to make it 5-0 to the Champions.
Commenting on the win, City Head Coach Eddie Wolecki Black said: "There is no doubt it was a motivated team today and I felt the adrenaline of Wednesday night gave us an extra push. We looked sharp, pressed the ball really well and I thought we were always a threat.
"We have now gone three full years in the Scottish Cup without losing a single goal and with a record like that you are always going to be in contention to lift the trophy. I would just like to thank all of the players, staff, fans and everyone associated with the club on a quite magnificent season."
