C & K shock Albion - 2 Dec 2014 - Women's Football NewsC & K Basildon produced the result of the round and have reached the quarter finals of the Premier League Cup at the first attempt after beating Sporting Club Albion 2-0.
Zoe Rushen and Sara Sinclair scored the goals to send the South East Division One leaders through at the expense of their higher division opponents.
Holders Sheffield FC came through a tough tie with a 4-0 victory against Blackburn Rovers. Jodie Michalska opened the scoring in the fourth minute lead and Carla Ward doubled their lead with her 100th goal for the club. Suzanne Davies joined them on the scoresheet midway through the second half, before Michalska rounded off the win with her second goal.
Coventry City managed to negotiate a high scoring affair at Lewes, emerging as 6-3 winners. The Sky Blues raced into a two-goal lead at the interval thanks to Natasha Lynch and Destiney Toussaint, who netted a third within a minute of the restart. Kelly Newton pulled one back for the Rookettes but Maz Gauntlett, Amber Hughes and Jade Formaston added further goals to see Coventry home, despite Catherine O'Hagan grabbing a late brace for the home side.
Nottingham Forest, beaten finalists three years ago, are into the last eight once again but needed to come from behind to win 2-1 at Keynsham Town. The home side took a first half lead via a spectacular strike from Hari Sabic and Keynsham also had two efforts cleared off the line. After the break, Isabel Sullivan levelled matters from the penalty spot just before the hour and Jennifer Foster scored what turned out to be the winner with a close range header from Andi Bell's cross.

Things were considerably closer at Newcastle Utd where visitors Brighton & Hove Albion edged into the last eight with an extra time winner. A closely fought tie was settled when Charlotte Gurr fired home a 25-yard free kick late on.
Charlton Athletic made a long journey for the second round in succession, this time to the South West, and once again they were successful with a 7-1 victory. Stef Simmons, Charley Clifford and Kit Graham ensured that the Addicks were three goals ahead at half time and within ten minutes of the restart, Clifford netted twice more to complete a hat-trick. Katie Middleton did pull a goal back for Argyle but Sam Pittuck and Graham added further strikes for Charlton late on.
Portsmouth complete a strong looking quarter final line up after running out 6-1 winners over Mossley Hill. Lucy Quinn netted twice for Pompey along with Sarah Kempson, Ini Umotong, Shannon Sievwright and Chloe Dark with Sophie Perry replying (see match report).
