Next they take on Mexico at the same venue four days later before finishing their group matches against Colombia at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal.
The final will take place in Vancouver on Sunday 5th July. FIFA meanwhile have confirmed that goal line technology will be utilised at the tournament for the first time.
Japan start their defence of the title against Switzerland and also face Cameroon and Ecuador whilst hosts Canada are up against China, New Zealand and Holland. Undoubtedly the toughest group of the lot will be Group D, where the United States must play Sweden, Australia and Nigeria.
