Fairweather appointed Sunderland boss
 Women's Football News 30 Dec 2014
Sunderland AFC Ladies have appointed a new head coach ahead of the commencement of the 2015 FA WSL 1 season.
Academy coach Carlton Fairweather has taken up the position and starts his new role with immediate effect.
The former Wimbledon midfielder, who joined Sunderland's staff in 2003, takes charge of the side as it begins pre-season training ahead of the start of WSL 1 campaign in March.
Carlton, 42, spent the majority of his playing career with Wimbledon, chalking up 138 league appearances. He also spent a brief spell at Carlisle and played and coached in Hong Kong and the USA, before embarking on a coaching role with the Dons.
He joined Sunderland AFC in October 2003, working initially with the club's community football scheme, before progressing to the academy set up, where he worked as youth development phase lead coach.
