Trio sign for Liverpool - 7 Jan 2015 - Women's Football News

Liverpool Ladies Football Club are delighted to announce the signings of trio Satara Murray, Ingrid Ryland and Line Krogedal Smorsgard.
American central defender Murray has joined the Reds from North Carolina Tar Heels at the University of North California having previously played for Washington Spirit.
Full back Ryland has moved to Merseyside from Norwegian Toppserien side Arna-Bjornar whilst fellow Norwegian Smorsgard has completed a move to the reigning Women's Super League champions from Norwegian Toppserien side Klepp IL.
The Reds returned to training yesterday after winning back to back Women's Super League titles and have been boosted by the three new signings as they prepare for the new season which begins in March.
Satara is a highly rated 21-year-old defender who was briefly played for Washington Spirit as well as playing for North Carolina Tar Heels last season. Having played most of her footballing career in college football, Satara was named as the most outstanding defensive player of the 2012 NCAA College Cup.
This season for University of North Carolina, Satara earned All-ACC, All-Region and All-Tournament recognition as well as achieving All-American status to cap a successful final year in the United States for the young defender.
On the move to Liverpool, defender Murray said: "Having played college football for a number of years I feel as though I am now ready to make the step up to professional football and couldn't ask for a better move than to Liverpool Ladies.
"Liverpool Ladies are a Club definitely going places which was highlighted by the two recent WSL title victories and I cannot wait to start. I would like to thank all those at North Carolina for their support over the last few years and helping me to achieve this fantastic opportunity."
Ingrid is a 25-year-old defender who has helped Arna-Bjornar to three successive third place finishes in the Toppserien and will bring experience to the reigning Women's Super League champions' defence.
Speaking on her move to the Reds, Ingrid said: "I am delighted to have joined the Liverpool Ladies. I am keen follower of English football, both male and female, and I know that Liverpool Ladies are a great team with a massive future ahead of them."
"Having seen Liverpool Ladies lift the WSL trophy in 2013 and 2014, hopefully I am able to improve the side and help them to secure a third successive league title victory."
Line is a 27-year-old striker who was a regular for Klepp IL last season as they finished in 9th position in the Toppserien. Having won back to back league titles, Reds manager Matt Beard has strengthened his squad by adding more firepower to his front line.
Line said: "This is a great move for me and I cannot wait to get started. The Women's Super League is definitely improving and I'm really excited to join such a big club in Liverpool."
"To be able join the reigning Women's Super League champions and play in the UEFA Women's Champions League football is a brilliant feeling."
