Aberdeen Ladies FC have continued their pre-season strengthening with the signing of Alana Bruce from Forfar Farmington.
The vastly experienced winger joins the Dons after spending an incredible 20 years with the Angus side; progressing from youth football to the SWPL, picking up a number of Scotland caps on the way.
"It was never something I took the time to think about," admits Alana when discussing whether she had envisaged spending such a long spell with one club. "While we were building and developing the club through the leagues there was no desire to leave."
Admitting that the decision to move on from Forfar was the hardest footballing decision she has had to make, Alana looks back on her time with her local club with a smile: "Spending all of my career to date with Forfar certainly made it difficult to leave, but my time there was enjoyable and I'd certainly like to wish everyone at the club the best for the coming season."
Having joined up with the Aberdeen squad for pre-season, Alana explains that she was delighted with what was on offer. "This is a very professional and ambitious club, and the support mechanisms afforded to the players really is excellent," she said. "The training sessions are of a similar high standard and that makes the overall experience really enjoyable.
"I felt I lost my passion for playing a bit in 2014, and that made for a difficult season in a lot of ways. So I'm really looking forward to this new challenge."
Manager Allan Smith added: "We are really pleased Alana has agreed to join us for the start of the 2015 campaign. She adds real experience, athleticism and versatility to the squad. I have no doubt Alana will bring a lot of positives to the club and I look forward to working with her."
