Katie Wilkinson is back at Aston Villa and is ready for the new season.
The striker starred for the claret and blues after coming through the Centre of Excellence before making a 2013 switch to city neighbours Birmingham City in order to sample Super League and Champions League football. In June 2014, she returned to B6 and was a revelation in the WSL 2, scoring six goals in 13 appeances - a focal part of the team's fourth place finish.
The striker has now opted to sign on once more and is made up to be back at her hometown club.
Wilkinson said: "It feels great to know I'm back at Aston Villa, a club I've played for, supported and loved since a very young age.
"Going away for a season and then coming back on loan really made me certain on where I wanted to be, and now I'm glad to have come back home!
"On a personal level, I just want to really enjoy myself, play to the best ability that I can, and try and help Aston Villa step up to WSL 1."
Head coach Joe Hunt says the re-singing of Katie has given everyone a lift in the camp: "We are thrilled that Katie has returned home to Aston Villa Football Club.
"This is where she belongs. Her time away from the club didn't go as well as she'd planned but coming back to where she learnt her trade is a massive boost to everyone at the club.
"We were able to get Katie on loan last season and she was incredible for us. She scored and assisted goals but more importantly combined very well with her team mates to make us a better side. She is Villa through and through, she wants to do well individually but wants to push us on as a club.
"Over the winter break, she has gone away on her own, got herself fit and is really focused on playing well for us this season. Katie needs to play regular football, when she did, we all saw how good she was for the second half of last season.
"She played well for us which led to a call up into the England U23 camp. She belongs at that level, she is a class act.
"The rest of the team are thrilled we've got her back, they enjoy having her in the team and she's lively around the training ground."
