Contract reward for Georgia
 Women's Football News 29 Jan 2015

Contract reward for Georgia   - 29 Jan 2015 - Women's Football NewsManchester City Women's Georgia Brougham has signed her first professional contract with the Club.

The youngster, who made her senior debut in a 3-0 victory at Everton Ladies back in September, has committed her immediate future to Nick Cushing's side by penning a two-year deal.

Having started her career at youth level with the Blues and working her way through the ranks, Brougham progressed quickly, earning a promotion to the first-team towards the end of the last campaign. Her maiden display earned praise from her team mates and manager - and since then, Brougham has never looked back, cementing her place in the first team and impressing her manager enough to earn a full contract.

The defender could not hide her delight following the news and hopes to continue where she left off last season. "I'm so happy," she smiled. "It felt so good when I found out. I felt like it was a really good achievement for me and the answer was 100% 'yes'!

"The players and staff are happy for me and have told me to keep working hard. I intend to do that."

Once she had made her senior bow towards the end of the 2014 season, Brougham fought hard to keep her place in the starting line-up and featured in every game since. That run, of course, included two crucial Continental Cup clashes - the semi-final and final - in which the youngster played a key role in helping her side to a first piece of silverware.

The defender, who exclusively told CityTV in a fun Q&A she keeps her medal on her window sill, admitted she never dreamed of becoming a cup champion so early in her career but hopes to lift more trophies with the Blues.

"When you have the feel of it, it makes you want to keep working hard and pushing on," she asserted. "I never expected to achieve what I have done already at such a young age but I believe: if you work hard, you get your reward."

Cushing, who has recruited five new players over the winter, expressed his delight at capturing the starlet's signature and told mcfc.co.uk: "Georgia is a very talented young defender who can play anywhere across the back four.

"She is improving everyday, training full-time alongside senior professionals who have played many games at club and international level.

"We are proud that she is one of our own and has been developed at our club from the age of nine."
