The Wiltshire County Women's and Girls League hosted their fourth Festival of football for the season last weekend at Stanley Park Sports Ground in Chippenham.
The monthly festivals for U10 and U11 teams welcomes clubs, coaches, players and parents from all areas of the County with all present taking part in a series of small sided matches. A total of 6 clubs took part in the festival with 8 teams in the U10 age group and 6 teams making up the U11 festival. In total over 100 girls took part in the days event and received the chance to put into practice skills picked up in club training sessions.
Rob Bridges, Wiltshire County Women's and Girls League Fixture Secretary, commented: "There was a great attendance again at the festival last weekend and it was great to see over 100 girls playing in a non pressurised environment which enabled them to show off their skills to on looking parents and coaches. Another key success to the festival was that current U16 players from the respective clubs were on hand to referee the matches which helped to ensure that the event was successful and that all the players left with smiles on their faces.
"The league would like to thank Melksham Town FC, FC Chippenham Youth, Frome Youth, Warminster Highbury Youth, Warminster Sky Blues and Marlborough Angels for attending the festival as well as Ellie Burgess, Mia Regler, Tyler Webb, Anna Shepherd and Chantelle Church for officiating throughout the festival."
The next league festival takes place in April before the teams then head to the Futsal Swindon Arena to take part in the FA National Youth Futsal Festivals County qualifying competition.
