Sheffield FC have taken over at the top of the table on goal difference after they defeated Preston North End 3-0.
An own goal in the second minute sent Sheffield into an early lead and they sealed the points with two further second half strikes from Jodie Michalska and Suzanne Davies.
Blackburn Rovers meanwhile lifted themselves into third place with a 3-1 victory over Newcastle Utd. Karen Boyle, Lynda Shepherd and Danielle Sheen netted the goals for Rovers who are now five points behind the top two, while Stacy Crooks was on target for Newcastle.
At the other end of the table, Nottingham Forest climbed out of the bottom two by picking up a vital 3-2 win against mid-table Stoke City. Annabel McKechnie scored twice for Forest along with Katie Lowder, while Stoke replied through Meg Bowyer and Louise Roberts.
