Everton are just two stages away from a return visit to the F.A.Women's Cup Final following a 2-1 extra time victory over Bristol Academy on Tuesday night.
After Academy had taken a second half lead, the WSL 2 side hit back to level the scores and settled matters in the extra period to book themselves a home quarter final tie with Charlton Athletic.
The tie had been delayed due to Bristol Academy's involvement in the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter finals and the Vixens looked to be on their way to a morale boosting first win of the season when Nikki Watts scored from the penalty spot after Lindsay Johnson had brought down Sophie Ingle in the area.
However with eleven minutes remaining, Lucy Whipp, who had only just come on the field as a substitute, brought the scores level when she scored from close range following a corner.
Watts was twice denied a second goal by good saves from Megan Walsh and these proved to be vital stops when, with seven minutes of extra time remaining, a long ball over the top was latched onto by an overlapping Gabrielle George and she slotted the ball past Mary Earps for the winning goal.
