City journey ends in Paris
 Women's Football News 29 Mar 2015

Paris Saint Germain 5 (Lappin og 26, Delie 51,68, Delannoy pen 64, Dali pen 86) Glasgow City 0
Glasgow City's record-breaking European adventure came to an end as they were beaten by a strong Paris Saint Germain side at the plush settings of the Parc des Princes.

In front of a crowd in excess of 11,000, City found this stage to be a bridge too far against star studded opponents but reaching the quarter finals is an achievement in itself for Eddie Wolecki Black's side.

Trailing by two goals from the first leg, City fielded Fiona Brown as a lone striker and five in midfield but PSG were assured in possession and carved out the game's first chance, Fatmire Alushi forcing a save from Lee Alexander.

Alexander saved again from Delie but in the 26th minute, she could do nothing as Paris went in front in the most unfortunate of circumstances. Kheira Hamraoui played the ball in from the right and the ball took a huge deflection off Suzanne Lappin and past a wrongfooted Alexander for the opening goal.

City were able to recover from the setback and prevented any further damage to preserve the one-goal deficit going into half time.

Six minutes into the second half though, the home side went two ahead when a well worked move culminated with Marie-Laure Delie latching onto a through ball from Shirley Cruz and slotting home.

The third goal came shortly afterwards after Cruz was brought down in the area by Emma Black. Sabrina Delannoy stepped up to take the resulting penalty and the Paris captain found the net.

Delie netted her second after being set up by Delannoy and with four minutes left, Paris were awarded a second penalty, this time for a foul by Cheryl McCulloch on Kosovare Asllani. Substitute Kenza Dali made no mistake from the spot to round off a 5-0 win for Paris Saint Germain, who have the task of taking on holders VfL Wolfsburg in the semi finals.
