Birmingham City 0 Manchester City 0
The spoils were shared as Birmingham City and Manchester City opened up their respective WSL 1 seasons at the Autotech Stadium.
Birmingham are likely to be the happier of the two sides after playing the second half with ten players after striker Freda Ayisi was red carded following a first half altercation.
It was the visitors who started the brighter in a match played in poor weather conditions and Blues goalkeeper Rebecca Spencer made good saves from Nikita Parris and Toni Duggan.
Birmingham hit back the best effort of the half, a 25-yard strike by Jo Potter which was tipped over the bar by Karen Bardsley.
Moments before the interval, the home side were reduced to ten when Ayisi was sent off after being involved in a scuffle with Bardsley.
Birmingham went close to opening the scoring early in the second half but Emily Westwood's shot was just wide.
Despite being a player short, Birmingham kept things tight at the back and Spencer was in fine form in goal, twice making saves from Duggan.
