Sheffield FC went down to only their second defeat of the season on Tuesday night when they were beaten 2-1 by Blackburn Rovers.
After Sheffield had taken an early lead, Lynda Shepherd equalised before the break and Danielle Sheen netted the winner to move Blackburn to within two points of the top two.
Two days earlier, Sheen and Shepherd had both been on the scoresheet again with Jessica Holbrook also bagging a brace as Rovers won 4-2 away to Bradford City, who replied through Molly-Mae Sharp and an own goal.
Sheffield's defeat has opened up things again for Coventry City, who are in second place on goal difference following their 6-2 victory over Derby County. Helen Dermody was on target twice for the Sky Blues along with Destiney Toussaint, Ashleigh Neville, Annabel Johnson and Amber Hughes while Derby responded with strikes from Melissa Johnson and Precious Hamilton.
Nottingham Forest moved out of the bottom three with a 3-0 win at Sporting Club Albion. Shannon Weston gave Forest a third minute lead, with Natasha Meade and Andi Bell adding late goals to avenge their defeat at the hands of Albion seven days earlier and record their third victory in four games.
On Wednesday night, Melissa Johnson, Grace John and Cara Newton scored the goals as Derby County claimed a vital 3-2 success against Stoke City which lifts them out of the bottom two.
