Neither of the Northern Division title contenders is giving an inch as the end of the season approaches.
Coventry City stay three points ahead after winning 3-0 away to Newcastle Utd. The Sky Blues took the lead through Destiney Toussaint on the stroke of half time and Dani Selmes added a second on the hour mark. Jade Formaston rounded off the scoring in injury time but the win was marred as Toussaint was taken off with a serious looking injury which was sustained as the second goal was scored. The result condemns Newcastle to finishing in the bottom two and their future will now depend on the outcome of the end of season play-off.
Sheffield FC remain in second place, with a game in hand and a superior goal difference, and they kept up their challenge with a 1-0 victory over Stoke City, Emma Johnson scoring the only goal of the game with fifteen minutes remaining.
Blackburn Rovers moved back up to third after scoring six times without reply against Wolverhampton Wanderers. Amie Fleming and Georgia Stanway each netted twice and there was one apiece from Jess Holbrook and Megan Taylor.
