Worthwhile wait for Taunton
 Women's Football News 1 May 2015
Worthwhile wait for Taunton - 1 May 2015 - Women's Football NewsTaunton Town Development were crowned Champions of Division Two in the Somerset County Women's League following a wait of four weeks after completing their fixtures.
After finishing the campaign with a 2-1 win over Evercreech, it was all down to the teams around them to win their games to overtake them. It went to the final game of the season, where Team Mendip Res had to win in order to pick up the three points to lift the trophy, but they failed to beat Wellington and the title was Taunton's.
Taunton Town's Development squad is in its second season of operating and they will now be promoted to Division One. The Development squad was set up in order for the club to provide football at a variety of levels, with the first team playing in the South West Women's League.
Several players at the club have shown their talent in the Development squad and earned their places in the first team.
Club Manager Becky Farthing told Women's Soccer Scene: "We run one club that has two teams in it, we all train play and socialise together and work hard behind the scenes to get results for both the teams in their respective leagues.
"The Development squad is a recent addition to Taunton Town. We have some young players and this is a great way to build players into the adult league and build confidence of players.
"We have some great coaches involved in the club and we can build on this season's success. We also have some great sponsors that have supported our club this season - Cheddar Woods our main sponsor, Hungry Horse our match day sponsor, SK JEM fitness who provide fitness training for the club and our individual player sponsors. We couldn't run our club without their support.
"As the season draws to a close, we will take a few weeks' well earned break before the build for next season. We are always looking for more players, so please get in touch if you are interested in getting involved in the club next season (07792 499120) or visit our website/Facebook/twitter pages."
