Old Actonians lifted the London & South East League Cup following a 1-0 victory over London Corinthians in the Final at Carshalton.
The two teams had met in the league seven days earlier with Corinthians winning 1-0 on that occasion and they passed the ball around confidently in the early stages looking to get an early goal but Old Actonians defended well however and slowly started to find their own feet. Much like the previous meeting, it was a tight and physical battle with a lot of play in and around the midfield who were outmarking each other.
Actonians began to grow in confidence and Rosie Stone went close on a couple of occasions to giving her side the lead. Neither side could make a breakthrough and the scoreline was goalless going into half time.
The second half was also a close fought contest and Corinthians tried to take advantage of playing with the ever increasing wind in their backs and they had their best chance of the game quite early on when a great shot just cleared the bar.
Actonians forced a series of corners and one kick led to them taking the lead. Chelsea Berlin swung the ball into the area where Carla Williams flicked it on and Linda Fox managed to get the final touch to steer it into the back of the net.
Corinthians pressed hard for the remaining time but to no avail and so the final whistle came to confirm that Old Actonians were the winners of the inaugural L&SE League Cup.
