Sheffield FC have retained their Northern Division title, barring appeal, after they defeated Sporting Club Albion 3-0 on Sunday.
The Yorkshire side went into the game requiring one point to win the Championship and took the lead just before the half hour through leading scorer Jodie Michalska. After the break, Michalska netted her second goal and Emma Johnson sealed the victory late on by adding the third.
However things currently depend on any appeal by Coventry City over their six point deduction and the Sky Blues completed what would otherwise have been a great week for them, following up their County Cup success in midweek by winning 4-1 away to Huddersfield Town. The home side got off to a great start when Kate Mallin fired them in front with just two minutes on the clock but an own goal restored parity shortly afterwards and Maz Gauntlett gave Coventry the lead on the half hour. Natasha Lynch headed in the third from a corner in first half injury time and after the break, Helen Dermody completed the scoring.
