Bruton brace helps Reading topple Belles
 Women's Football News 17 May 2015
Doncaster Rovers Belles 0 Reading FC Women 3 (Bruton 53,71, Bragg 61)
Doncaster Rovers Belles fell to a league defeat for the first time this season after Lauren Bruton's brace sent Reading home with all three points.
Bruton's two goals, either side of Bianca Bragg's fantastic strike, left Glen Harris' side stunned after a poor display.
The first real chance of the game fell to Helen Ward but Leandra Little brilliantly denied her with a last ditch tackle. Ward then had another chance as she got through one-on-one with Nicola Hobbs but she fluffed her lines and dragged wide.
Bethany England, fresh from her brace against London Bees, tried to make a breakthrough for the Belles, firing over from range before heading straight at Grace Maloney.
It was turning into a fiery encounter with both sides taking no prisoners with tackles as top of the table was at stake as they entered half time all square.
The Belles began the second half in quick fashion, England and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk going close but the deadlock still wasn't broken. Against the run of play, Reading took the lead. A long ball over the top found Bruton who lobbed the ball over Hobbs before heading home.
The first goal gave Reading confidence and after a mix up they were 2-0 up. Bianca Bragg caught Hobbs back tracking and hit an effort from 40 yards.
It went from bad to worse for the home side when Little was adjudged to have handled in the area and Bruton smashed home the penalty.
Despite some late pressure from the Belles, there was no consolation goal meaning Reading move top on goal difference.
