Sheffield FC warmed up for this Sunday's Championship play-off match by completing their regular fixtures with a 3-0 victory away to Sporting Club Albion.
Jodie Michalska has been in superb form in recent weeks and the prolific striker scored another hat-trick to take her tally for the season to 25, scoring her 200th goal for the club in the process.
Sheffield will end the season with an eight-point margin ahead of runners-up Coventry City whose campaign finished with a 1-1 draw with Bradford City, who end up in fourth place. Bradford led at the break through a 27th minute strike from Sarah Danby, before the Sky Blues hit back in the second half and Helen Dermody equalised just after the hour mark.
Derby County made sure of a good finish to the season, winning for the sixth time in eight games and guaranteeing themselves a top half place after having flirted with relegation at one stage. Louisa Abbey and Lauren Steadman scored the goals as Derby won 2-1 against Huddersfield Town, whose reply came from Emily Heckler.
Newcastle Utd's immediate fate lies in the hands of Sheffield FC this Sunday, but the Magpies did make it a good end to a disappointing season as they won 3-1 away to Preston North End. Hannah Keane netted twice and Jessica Foster the other as Newcastle recorded one of their best results of the campaign, while Keeleigh Savage scored a consolation for the home side.
