Villa fightback foils Bees
 Women's Football News 25 May 2015

Aston Villa 2 (Wilkinson 48, Fergusson 78) London Bees 1 (Gaylor 23)
Olivia Fergusson netted her third goal in two matches as Aston Villa came from behind to see off London Bees at Sutton Coldfield Town.

The home side started the game on the front foot and could have opened the scoring on four occasions during the opening quarter of an hour.Katie Wilkinson and Fergusson both forced Bees goalkeeper Imogen Riches into saves while Maddy Cusack also went close.

On 23 minutes, the Bees took the lead against the run of play as Amber Gaylor tucked home following a lightning quick counter attack.

Undeterred, the claret and blues roared back and were almost level before the break - Katie Wilkinson shot wide with Riches stranded out of her area on 33 minutes before Fergusson rattled a shot against the crossbar five minutes before the break.

Villa picked up where they left off before the interval, with Fergusson again the player to be denied by the bar as her close range header from a corner two minutes into the second period somehow stayed out.

Patience paid off as Wilkinson levelled the scores up just one minute later with a glancing header from another set-piece that looped inside the far post.

The striker came close to giving Villa the lead on 53 minutes with a snap shot from inside the box that Riches was forced to scramble away for a corner. At the other end, Jess Myers did her job when called upon, saving well from Gaylor's 20-yard effort.

The decisive strike arrived 12 minutes from time, as Fergusson - a constant menace for the Bees' backline - met substitute Chloe Harper's through ball before firing into the bottom corner.
