Cameroon 6 (Ngono Mani 34, Enganamouit 36,73,pen 90, Manie pen 44, Onguene pen 79) Ecuador 0 Cameroon cruised to a six-goal victory against Ecuador in a match which saw three penalties and a birthday hat-trick from Gaelle Enganamouit. The opening half hour of the game saw few chances as both teams tried to feel their way into the tournament but the match exploded into life in the 34th minute. Gabrielle Onguene made a powerful run down the right before cutting the ball back for Enganamouit whose shot was parried by Shirley Berruz and Madeleine Ngono Mani was on hand to tuck home the rebound. Just two minutes later, Christine Manie pumped a long ball over the Ecuador defence and Enganamouit outpaced her markers before sliding her shot past Berruz to mark her 23rd birthday with a goal. Ambar Torres went close with a free kick at the other end but it was an all too rare opportunity for Ecuador and the South Americans were dealt a huge blow on the stroke of half time. Once again Enganamouit was heavily involved, powering into the area before laying the ball off for Gabrielle Onguene who was brought down by Kerlly Real. A penalty was awarded and Manie stepped up to send Berruz the wrong way from the spot. The pattern of the game continued after the break and disaster struck for Ecuador halfway through the half when captain Ligia Moreira brought down the rampaging Enganamouit when through on goal and she was red carded. Enganamouit made them pay seven minutes later when she scored her second, slotting home from close range after being set up by Onguene. Cameroon sought more goals and did not have to wait too long to add to their tally. Claudine Meffometou Tcheno's cross from the right was handled by Katherine Ortiz and a second penalty was given. This time it was Onguene who took it and she struck her shot home, Berruz appearing to dive some time before she reached the ball. There was still time for one more goal as the match went into injury time. Enganamouit powered into the area and was tripped by Mayra Olvera, resulting in a third penalty for Cameroon. Once again, Berruz moved miles too early, giving Enganamouit the simple task of firing her shot down the middle to wrap up her hat-trick.
