Colombia stun France on Lady's night
 Women's Football News 14 Jun 2015
France 0 Colombia 2 (Andrade 19, Usme 90)
Colombia inflicted a huge shock in beating one of the World Cup favourites and blowing the Group F table wide open in the process.
The win was a fully deserved one for the South American side and took them to the top of the table with one match left to play.
In terms of possession, France were dominant in possession but without really troubling Sandra Sepulveda in the Colombia goal. After withstanding the early pressure, Colombia then stunned the French by taking the lead with their first meaningful attack.
Orianica Velasquez clipped a great pass over the French defence and into the path of Lady Andrade who showed great composure in sliding her shot past Sarah Bouhaddi to give her side the lead.
The goal visibly shook the French side who struggled to get their game going after that point. Despite much possession, the final ball let them down on a lot of occasions while Angela Clavijo and Nataly Arias stayed firm in the centre of defence for Colombia. The best opportunity went the way of Eugenie Le Sommer but Sepulveda was on hand to save.
France continued to press after the break and Sepulveda kept her side in front with an excellent save, tipping over a curling effort from Elisa Bussaglia. The keeper also needed to be alert from the resulting corner, her palmed clearance going as far as Laura Georges who volleyed back goalwards but Sepulveda was able to save.
France were denied what looked a clear penalty when Daniela Montoya appeared to knock the ball away from Le Sommer with her hand as the striker made a burst into the area. Then, Sepulveda carried the ball outside the area as she made a smothering save at the feet of Gaetane Thiney but from the resulting free kick, Camille Abily's effort was a tame one and Sepulveda saved easily.
Still France pressed with Abily, Le Sommer, Claire Lavogez and Jessica Houara all having attempts on goal without success. Maybe they knew it was not going to be their day when Abily slotted the ball across the face of goal for Amandine Henry whose powerful strike was somehow kept out by Sepulveda.
The game went into injury time with Colombia still refusing to yield. Then, a poor touch by Bouhaddi as she looked to launch the ball forward resulted in Isabella Echeverri nicking it off her and Diana Ospina played it through to Cataline Usme who steadied herself before beating Bouhaddi with an unerring finish to crown an amazing day for her side and spark huge celebrations.
