UEL has teamed up with top women's football club, Millwall Lionesses, in a deal which will benefit players and the university.
The link will allow players from the club to get sports scholarships to study at UEL - and will mean they will be able to play for the university women's team.
"This partnership reflects our ambition to deliver a leading women's university football programme that supports the entire spectrum of performance, from grass roots to elite level competition," said Matthew Tansley, High Performance Sport Manager at UELSports.
"It also reflects our commitment to women's sport and being able to deliver world-class support to those elite athletes wishing to balance elite sport with education."
Millwall will also provide coaching to UEL's women's football club. Daniel Mliner, Millwall Lionesses' manager, has been appointed the UEL coach.
"The partnership is a great opportunity to develop a strong women's football team at UEL," said Mr Mliner. "For the Lionesses, it's about keeping more players in the system for longer and maintaining the highest possible standard."
The players are very excited about the venture. "It's going to be a great experience," said Lilli Maple. "It is going to be good to be part of the team as we progress over the coming years as well as experience what university life is all about."
Matthew Tansley is confident that the partnership will be a success: "Ultimately our programme will be judged on our ability to develop players and our team's success. In Millwall we believe we have the right partner to deliver both."
