The Northern Ireland Women's Premier League title race was opened up as leaders Crusaders Strikers went down to their first defeat of the season, beaten 1-0 by fellow contenders Newry City. Ali McMaster scored the only goal of the game to leave Newry in third place, three points behind the Strikers and with a game in hand. Second placed Linfield Ladies meanwhile stepped up their challenge with a 5-0 victory away to Mid UIster Ladies. Lauren Robson opened the scoring for Linfield on the quarter hour with her first senior goal and Kirsty McGuinness added a second shortly afterwards. After the break, Amber Dempster added a further two goals including one from the penalty spot, while Mel Orr also got on the scoresheet. Sion Swifts follow on in fourth place after a goal from Kelly Crompton earned them a 1-0 win against Glentoran Belfast Utd.
