Nine schools attend Barking Girls Festival
 Women's Football News 3 Jul 2015
93 year four and five students from nine different Barking & Dagenham schools enjoyed a Girls Football Festival on Friday 19th June at Barking Abbey School's new 3G pitch as part of a larger programme to get more girls playing regular football in the area.
Three representatives from Dagenham United Girls FC were present at the well-attended festival to help organise the small-sided matches and fun games. They will now support six free follow-up sessions from Saturday 4th July between 10.00am and 11.00am at the same venue, which will also include year six students.
Football Development Officer, Andrew Crowl, commented: "We'd like to offer our thanks to Chris Wilding from the Barking & Dagenham Schools FA who promoted this event. He is a key partner for this programme. We're also grateful to Wayne Baldacchino and his Sports Leaders from Eastbury Comprehensive School.
"Sharon Brownlie and her Academy Girls from Barking Abbey School helped to run the activity sessions and refereed the games and thanks also to Melissa Embery and Dagenham United Girls FC, who are supporting this programme."
Come along and play at Dagenham United Girls FC's Open Days! The venue is at Barking Abbey School's 3G Pitch, South Park Drive, Barking, IG11 8UD. Please contact Melissa on (07856) 089372 for details. Further opportunities to get involved in football can be found at www.essexfa.com, on Twitter @EssexCountyFA and by searching for 'EssexFootball' on Facebook.
