New Scottish Grassroots football magazine launched
 Women's Football News 4 Jul 2015

New Scottish Grassroots football magazine launched - 4 Jul 2015 - Women's Football NewsYouth Football Scotland and Grassroots Media are delighted to launch our brand new magazine, 'Grassroots' (www.grassrootsmag.co.uk).

The first edition of the quarterly publication features Scotland captain Darren Fletcher, James McFadden discussing his wonder goal in Paris, and Mercury Prize winning musician Alloysious Massaquoi of Young Fathers.

Also featured is a regional overview from every Scottish FA Girls and Women's co-ordinator as well as youth sides Musselburgh Windsor Girls, KSC Girls, Bedlay Community FC, Monifieth Girls, Westdyke Girls, and Morton Girls.

The magazine has received a fantastic response. Chief Executive of the Scottish FA, Stewart Regan tweeted: "Well done Youth Football Scotland - a great initiative on behalf of local football players, clubs, leagues and volunteers."

As part of the launch, all local grassroots clubs and teams are now being given the chance to claim their limited edition physical copy. Media and Content manager at Youth Football Scotland, Robert Wilson said: "Every local club and team has the chance to get their very own physical copy. Coaches, parents, and players alike can head over to our website, www.youthfootballscotland.co.uk, and can apply on behalf of their club or team."

Last month the magazine was shown and launched on live television. "We are delighted to have produced such a magazine for the grassroots community" said Robert. "It's a publication that doesn't just look at football, but at the whole grassroots game from lifestyle, coaching, technology, and nutrition. In short, there is something for everybody.

"We do have a great amount of support online and via social media, but it's important for us to engage with the community in as many unique and interesting ways as possible. This magazine was a perfect way to do that and simultaneously build on our social aim of giving young players a platform to increase their confidence and desire to remain in the sport.

"We've also seen a huge appetite from companies, organisations, and celebrities who want to engage with the grassroots community, so we feel this magazine is a fantastic platform for them to do that.

"We'd just like to say a big thank you to all of our volunteers who have been involved in this project. It's their articles, their photos, and their ideas that have helped make this magazine possible and that is promoting grassroots football in Scotland."
