In conjunction with European Sports Media (ESM), UEFA has announced its short list for UEFA Best Women's Player in Europe Award.
The shortlist, compiled from the nominations of the eight coaches from the UEFA Women's Champions League quarter finals and the eight coaches from the European teams participating in the Women's World Cup is, in alphabetical order:
Nadine Angerer (Portland Thorns and Germany)
Ramona Bachmann (FC Rosengard and Switzerland)
Verónica Boquete (FFC Frankfurt/FC Bayern München and Spain)
Amandine Henry (Olympique Lyonnais and France)
Simone Laudehr (FFC Frankfurt and Germany)
Eugénie Le Sommer (Olympique Lyonnais and France)
Wendie Renard (Olympique Lyonnais and France)
Dzsenifer Marozsán (FFC Frankfurt and Germany)
Anja Mittag (FC Rosengĺrd/Paris Saint-Germain and Germany)
Alexandra Popp (VfL Wolfsburg and Germany)
Celia aić (FFC Frankfurt, currently unattached and Germany)
Caroline Seger (Paris Saint-Germain and Sweden)
The jury for the second round of voting is selected by ESM and will be composed of 18 journalists committed to supporting women's football, with the final three nominees scheduled to be revealed on Wednesday, 12th August 2015. The same jury will then cast their votes live during the 2015-16 UEFA Champions League group stage draw in Monaco on 28th August, with an electronic system used to determine the outright winner.
There is no British representation in the list although several players did come close, with England captain Steph Houghton missing out on the top 12 by one place. Fara Williams, Lucy Bronze, Kim Little, Karen Bardsley and Jodie Taylor all received votes in the top 35 places in the initial poll.
