Liverpool keep up good Cup start
 Women's Football News 31 Jul 2015
Doncaster Rovers Belles 0 Liverpool 3 (Dowie 14, Staniforth 29, Hodson 81)
Liverpool kept up their winning start to their Continental Tyres Cup campaign with a three-goal success over WSL2 leaders Doncaster Rovers Belles at the Keepmoat Stadium.
Natasha Dowie struck her third Continental Tyres Cup goal in two games before Lucy Staniforth scored directly from a corner, and substitute Ashley Hodson added the gloss late on.
Dowie found the bottom corner with the only clinical Liverpool finish in a first half that saw her slice at air and Rosie White hammer over the bar - both with the goal begging. Liverpool's second however arrived by unconventional means as Staniforth's corner flew straight in past Nicola Hobbs shortly before the break.
Doncaster had chances of their own - most notably Beth England rattling the bar on 32 minutes and Leandra Little heading just over the bar fifteen minutes from time.
But despite better Belles performances all round they were unable to break through, and substitute Hodson's strike from the edge of the box nine minutes from time was the final flourish for Liverpool.
Doncaster Rovers Belles: Nicola Hobbs, Lyndsey Cunningham, Rhiannon Roberts, Leandra Little, Lauren Cresswell (sub Hope Knight 52mins), Emily Roberts (sub Sophie Barker 62mins), Jade Lorton-Radburn, Kasia Lipka, Sue Smith, Bethany England, Courtney Sweetman-Kirk. Subs not used: Nicola Dale, Samantha Tierney, Molly Johnson, Sophie Stamp, Reanne Thomas.
