Duggan super strike peps City challenge
 Women's Football News 9 Aug 2015
Arsenal 2 (Scott 46, Natalia 81) Manchester City 3 (Bronze 23, Christiansen 60, Duggan 68)
Toni Duggan scored a stunning winning goal as Arsenal were denied the opportunity to go back to the top of the Women's Super League after being beaten 3-2 by fellow title chasers Manchester City on Sunday evening.
The visitors went in ahead at the break thanks to Lucy Bronze's header, though Arsenal drew level a minute into the second half through Alex Scott's cross-cum-shot. Issy Christiansen and Toni Duggan scored in the space of eight second half minutes to put Nick Cushing's side in control and, though Natalia Pablos Sanchon ensured a tense finale with a late header, Arsenal could not find an equaliser.
The visitors took the lead in the 23rd minute as Lucy Bronze bundled home from a corner and the ball was ruled to have gone in, despite it appearing as if Scott had made a goal line clearance.
Arsenal did not create many chances to draw level before the break, with Ubogagu wriggling past her marker but shooting wide just after the half hour mark, the closest they came whilst City were unable to further capitalise on their first half domination. Emma Byrne made a vital stop to deny Nikita Parris as she looked poised to double their advantage and the Arsenal keeper also tipped a powerful drive from Jennifer Beattie over the bar.
Just a minute into the second half, Alex Scott pulled Arsenal level with a cross-cum-shot that flew over Karen Bardsley's head and into the net just inside the far post.
The game was now much move evenly contested but Christiansen restored Manchester City's lead on the hour. Good work on the right by Daphne Corboz saw her play the ball into the path of the oncoming Bronze, whose low cross was turned in by Christiansen from six yards.
Eight minutes later, Duggan extended the advantage in spectacular style when she cut in and curled the ball into the top corner from 20 yards out past a helpless Byrne.
Arsenal tried to hit back with Chioma Ubogagu driving a shot wide but at the other end, Corboz could have extended City's lead as she burst into the area but she hesitated just before shooting and Byrne was able to block.
Natalia managed to head in a cross by Scott to set up a tense finish but the Gunners were unable to grab a point.
