Cardiff Met Ladies were beaten 5-0 by hosts KKPK Medyk Konin in their opening UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying group match.
The game kicked off in stifling 34 degree heat and the Polish side took full advantage, Aleksandra Sikora scoring twice in the opening twelve minutes.
Met settled down after the opening setbacks and the remainder of the first half was more evenly contested but in first half injury time, Sikora struck again for her hat-trick goal.
Medyk made a fast start to the second half and added a fourth goal within five minutes of the restart through substitute Paulina Dudek.
Cardiff Met tried hard to get on the scoresheet after the break, going closest when Robyn Pinder had a free kick saved, but the day belonged to Medyk, and Sikora in particular, and she was to round off the scoring with her fourth goal in stoppage time.
Cardiff Met are next in action on Thursday when they take on Gintra Universitetas, who were beaten 1-0 by Wexford Youths in the other group game.
