Cardiff Met suffer second defeat
 Women's Football News 13 Aug 2015
Cardiff Met Ladies' second match in their UEFA Women's Champions League qualifying group ended in a 5-1 defeat against Gintra Universitetas but the margin of defeat was harsh on Kerry Harris' side.
It started promisingly for the Welsh Premier Women's League Champions but the pace of Gintra's Ivory Coast International Ange Nguessan caused some problems and Met were 2-0 down within 13 minutes, both goals scored by Rebecca Elloh.
Cardiff came back into the game well and were very threatening, getting their reward in the 23rd minute from a great cross from Ellie Sargent that was slotted home by Erin Murray.
Met came out full of confidence in the second half and even after going down 3-1 to a Nguessan goal in the 66th minute, the Welsh side were still the better of the two sides for long periods of the second half.
In quick succession Met lost two players due to questionable refereeing decisions. Robyn Pinder was pulled down in the opposition area and, to her bemusement, was the player to receive the caution, being made to leave the field of play due to it being her second cautionable offence. Steph Turner received her second yellow card a minute later, taking Met down to nine players.
Gintra capitalised on their extra players, scoring a minute later through a Hannah Billingham own goal and Rita Akaffou added their fifth goal of the game two minutes after that.
Met looked organised and showed their fight and spirit on the pitch today, never giving up even after going down to nine players and if they take this attitude into the next game it should be a good battle when they face Wexford Youths on Sunday.
