Three out of three for Liverpool
 Women's Football News 16 Aug 2015
Liverpool 1 (Dowie 66) Durham Women 0
Liverpool secured their third straight triumph in the FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup thanks to substitute Natasha Dowie's second half winner against Durham.
After seeing their FA WSL 1 title defence falter in recent weeks, the hosts were frustrated by a resolute Durham performance at the Select Security Stadium, with the game remaining goalless at the interval.
After losing 5-0 to Manchester City in their last group game, Durham set out to contain their opposition as they limited to shots from distance for the first half.
Shortly after the restart, Reds boss Matt Beard sent on Rosie White and England international Dowie, who almost made an immediate impact as she forced Moorhouse to tip over the bar before turning in Ashley Hodson's excellent pull back on 66 minutes.
Moorhouse's sublime save then denied Hodson's volley before the Liverpool forward missed the rebound from Dowie's effort inside the last ten minutes.
Liverpool: Libby Stout, Martha Harris, Becky Easton, Gemma Bonner, Maz Pacheco, Katrin Omarsdottir (sub Rosie White 56mins), Katie Zelem, Lucy Staniforth, Ashley Hodson, Line Smorsgard (sub Natasha Dowie 56mins), Kate Longhurst (sub Satara Murray 74mins). Subs not used: Rachel Darbyshire, Hannah Dale, Mollie Green.

Durham Women: Anne Moorhouse, Lauren Jordinson, Gaby Banks (sub Jordan Atkinson 65mins), Victoria Linsley, Julie Nelson, Sarah Wilson, Chloe Macek, Beth Hepple (sub Erin Kelly 85mins), Natalie Gutteridge, Nicki Gears, Amelia Pereira (sub Meg Lawson 78mins). Sub not used: Sophie Stonehouse.

Attendance: 493
