County make it two from two
 Women's Football News 16 Aug 2015

Notts County 1 (Williams 8) Bristol Academy 0
Notts County are the only remaining team with a 100% record in Group Three of the Continental Tyres Cup following victory over Bristol Academy at Meadow Lane.

The only goal of the game came in the eighth minute when Jess Clarke's shot was blocked by Mary Earps and the rebound was bundled over the line by Rachel Williams.

County continued to press with Dani Buet firing wide whilst Clarke and Williams both had shots charged down. Clarke then thought she had doubled her side's lead when heading home but an offside flag ruled out any celebrations.

Ellen White sent a far post header over the bar from Clarke's cross and Earps made a good save from Williams as the home side finished the first half ahead and on top.

The Lady Pies started the second half on the front foot but without creating as many chances as they had done before the break. The first opportunity came on the hour mark when a good pass from Clarke released White who cut in from the right but dragged her shot wide.

Academy were dealt a blow when Frankie Brown was stretched off, shortly after coming on to replace Georgia Evans, forcing them to play with ten players. They rallied well after this point but could not get themselves back on level terms and it was County who were to go close again late on, Leanne Crichton firing a shot over the bar after good work from Alex Greenwood and Aileen Whelan.

Notts County: Siobhan Chamberlain, Alex Greenwood, Laura Bassett, Leanne Crichton, Sophie Walton, Dani Buet, Amy Turner, Desiree Scott, Jess Clarke (sub Aileen Whelan 74mins), Rachel Williams, Ellen White (sub Ashleigh Plumptre 90mins). Subs not used: Carly Telford, Fern Whelan, Laura-Jayne O'Neill.
