![]() WPWL Secretary Gwyn Derfel is excited about the new campaign: "Cardiff Met retained their title on goal difference only last season - pipping Swansea to the title. The three domestic trophies were won by different clubs - so it promises to be a very competitive season once again." Wales international Gwennan Harries was also present at the launch and she emphasised the importance of a developing National League: "The fact that the WPWL is going from strength to strength - is great news for the league itself and for the National set up as well. It's an exciting time for women's football in Wales." With almost 40,000 women and girls playing football in Wales in 2015, a further step in the development of the female game was taken on Saturday as around 300 women and girls took part in the Live Your Goals Event in Aberystwyth which coincided with the WPWL launch. The new WPWL season will begin on Sunday 13th September.
