Continental Cup Final heads for Rotherham
 Women's Football News 9 Sep 2015
Continental Cup Final heads for Rotherham - 9 Sep 2015 - Women's Football NewsThis season's FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup Final will be played at AESSEAL New York Stadium in Rotherham.
Tickets for the Final, which will take place on Sunday 1st November (3pm KO), will go on sale from midday on Friday 11th September. It will be the last game of the FA WSL season.
Last year's showpiece was won by Manchester City, who defeated Arsenal 1-0, with the winning goal from Izzy Christiansen (pictured).
Tickets are priced £5 for adults and £2.50 for children. A family ticket (two adults and two children) is available at £10 while group booking and Charter Standard club discounts also apply.
FA head of women's leagues and competitions Katie Brazier said: "The AESSEAL New York Stadium is a fantastic facility and a great arena to play one of the biggest women's matches of the season.
"This season's competition has gone from strength-to-strength, with many clubs reporting record Cup attendances and hugely exciting games and performances in every round. We are confident that this year's Final will be a fitting end to an incredible season for the FA WSL.
"We look forward to working alongside Rotherham United and the Finalists, along with our sponsor Continental Tyres, to make the Final a big success."
Peter Robb, Continental Tyres marketing communications manager, said: "We are delighted that this year's Continental Tyres Cup Final will be held at the AESSEAL New York Stadium in Rotherham.
"The competition so far has been incredibly exciting and will only get better as we get closer to The Final. There are 12,000 seats at the stadium and it would be fantastic to see those filled by fans that supported the Lionesses so passionately whilst they were in Canada."
Rotherham United last hosted women's football in April 2013, when they welcomed England to the New York Stadium. England defeated Canada 1-0 thanks to an Ellen White goal.
Tony Stewart, Rotherham United chairman, added: "Rotherham United are delighted to have been selected to host such a prestigious game in the football calendar.
"The Final is a showpiece event in the FA Women's Super League calendar, and we know from previous experience of hosting women's football that there is great interest in the game amongst the people of Rotherham and surrounding areas.
"Following the recent history of international fixtures at AESSEAL New York Stadium, we continue to grow our reputation of having a proven track record of hosting such high profile matches. We look forward to hosting the Finalists as we keep a close eye on the latter stages of the tournament with the quarter finals set to take place this weekend."
The FA WSL Continental Tyres Cup enters the quarter final stage this weekend, with all four ties being played on Sunday (2pm KO). There is a repeat of last season's Final in the last eight when three-time winners Arsenal host holders Manchester City at Boreham Wood.
Reading FC Women are the only FA WSL 2 side to have made the quarter finals and they will travel to Notts County hoping to progress. Birmingham City take on Chelsea at Solihull Moors, while Liverpool play Bristol Academy away at Stoke Gifford Stadium.
Tickets for the Final can be bought at www.rotherhamunitedshop.co.uk or by telephone on (0844) 410754.
