Derby County lost their unbeaten record in the Northern Division when they went down to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of fast improving Nottingham Forest.
A win would have taken Derby to the top of the table but Annabel McKechnie gave Forest the lead during the first half and Natasha Meade wrapped up the points with the second goal, nine minutes from time. Forest therefore move up into fourth, one place below their local rivals.
Loughborough Foxes meanwhile got themselves off the mark with a 6-3 victory over Nuneaton Town. Rebecca Langley, Lisa Giampalma, Helen Rudkin, Emma Pilling and Jodie White all found the net for Loughborough during the first half, with Pilling scoring her second after the break.
Cardiff City Ladies moved themselves back into second place in the Southern Division by winning 2-1 away to Forest Green Rovers. The first half ended goalless with Cardiff having the majority of the play and the home side's resistance was broken twenty minutes from time when Jemma Heath scored with a brave header. Naomi Clipston netted a late second and although Paige Stewart headed in a Charlotte King cross at the other end, they could not prevent Cardiff claiming their third victory on the trot.
C & K Basildon continue to do well and are in the top four following their 1-0 success away to West Ham Utd. Amy Nash scored the only goal of the game to give Steve Tilson's side their second win.
