Birmingham City 1 (Potter 53) Chelsea 0
Chelsea's aspirations for a trophy 'treble' were brought to an end as Birmingham City progressed to the semi finals of the Continental Tyres Cup with a hard fought win at Solihull.
With the sides at opposite ends of the FA Women's Super League table, Birmingham frustrated their illustrious rivals with a five-strong defence and got their reward for a bright start to the second half when Jo Potter curled home a glorious 20-yard free kick.
Hedvig Lindahl had no chance in the Chelsea goal, but the FA Women's Super League leaders surged forward in search of an equaliser.
The clearest chance fell to Ji So-Yun after 69 minutes, but her shot was superbly blocked by Kerys Harrop and Birmingham determinedly clung on to book their spot in the last four.
