Bristol Ladies Union v Middlezoy Rovers
 Women's Football News 19 Sep 2015

SSE Women's FA Cup - Road to the Final
Polly Wardle scored a hat-trick, Sarah Gregory weighed in with two, and Cheryl Baber and Chelsea Heal added a goal apiece as Bristol Ladies Union brushed past Ilminster Town with a 7-1 victory to book themselves a home tie with Middlezoy Rovers, who make their bow in the competition at this stage.

Middlezoy Rovers Ladies FC were formed in the summer of 2015 and this will be the club's first venture into the Women's FA Cup. The team has derived from the disbanding of Bridgwater Town Ladies FC but has kept the same league position, competing in the South West Women's Football League Premier Division. Middlezoy (a village located just outside of Bridgwater) was formed 30 years ago and presently contains three men's senior sides competing at both local and county levels.

The formation of the ladies team was primarily down to the brainchild of Chairman Paul Bennett and Ladies manager Ben Norman. Now fully up and running the, 'Zoy' ladies have kept a large proportion of last season's squad and have started the season playing some nice attractive football. Led by captain Georgia Coles, the ladies have started the wrong side of the odd goal in their opening two fixtures. However, dynamic and continuous effort performances have led to confidence remaining high within the squad. Goals from leading scorer Anusia Rourke has meant that the Zoy ladies have continued to be a threat in front of goal.

With an overall aim to expand the club and its female and youth provision, Middlezoy Rovers Ladies FC are certainly far from resting on the laurels. Future plans to expand the ground and training facilities mean that the Zoy are seen as one of the most progressive clubs in Somerset and their drive to succeed on the pitch should certainly seem them have a bright future.

Ben Norman is assisted by Harry Buckley and Gemma Baker and the Middlezoy squad includes the likes of Rosie Williams, Anusia Rourke and Georgia Coles who have all previously played for Yeovil Town.
