Wales campaign ends on losing note
 Women's Football News 21 Sep 2015
Belgium brought the UEFA Under-19 qualifying tournament to a close with a comprehensive 6-0 victory over Wales on Sunday.
Wales went into their final Group Three match without defensive duo Laurie Edwards and Niamh Tinman, while captain Charlie Estcourt had left the camp to join up with the senior side for the UEFA Women's Euro 2017 qualifier in Austria. Despite the enforced changes, Wales started brightly, but failed to test Ines Fernandez in the Belgian goal.
The opening goal arrived after 16 minutes when Henriette Awete found herself in space behind the Wales defence and slotted a powerful shot past Charlotte Edmunds into the corner of the net. It would prove to be a busy half for Edmunds, and a fine save from Awete on 21 minutes prevented the Belgians from increasing their lead.
Petra Baldewijns and captain Isabelle Iliano were both denied by the woodwork as Belgium began to dominate proceedings at Park Hall, and the lead was eventually doubled inside first half stoppage time when Celien Guns slid in at the far post. It was no more than Belgium deserved, despite a hard working and committed performance from Wales.
Belgium remained dominant in the second half and increased their lead on 66 minutes when substitute Amber Maximus headed past Edmunds, and Maximus grabbed her second of the game on 78 minutes when she capitalised on a through ball from Iliano. The captain again turned provider three minutes later as the creative Chloe Velde added Belgium's fifth. The scoring was completed deep into stoppage time when Iliano was played in by Maximus to finish.
Wales: Charlotte Edmunds, Fiona Dodge, Ffion Llewellyn, Lois Regan, Hannah Miles, Chelsea Jumratie (sub Jenni Buckley 71mins), Ceri Holland, Katy Hosford (sub Aleisha Cruwys 45mins), Laura Mitchell, Ffion Price (sub Olivia Fuller 65mins), Liberty Piggott. Sub not used: Jodie Buck.
