Brighton & Hove Albion continue to stretch the pace at the top of the Southern Division and lead by two points after they defeated C & K Basildon 6-1.
Zoe Rushen gave Basildon a flying start with an early goal - the first the Seagulls have conceded this season - but Brighton hit back strongly and a goal apiece from Charlotte Gurr, Kate Natkiel, Kirsty Barton, Jay Blackie, Deanna Cooper and Amy Taylor saw them to their fifth win in six matches.
Charlton Athletic are now heading the chasing teams and they stepped up their challenge with an impressive 4-1 victory over Champions Portsmouth. The Addicks led by two goals at half time through Gemma Shepherd and Kit Graham, and they went on to crown the win with further strikes from Jenny Newman and Nikita Whinnett, before Lucy Quinn grabbed a late consolation for Pompey.
Tottenham Hotspur bounced back from a midweek defeat to run out 5-0 winners away to Forest Green Rovers. All of the goals came during the second half, Avilla Bergin and Katie O'Leary scoring two apiece and Leah Rawle joining them on the scoresheet.
Two early goals set Coventry Utd on their way towards a 5-0 victory over Lewes. Maz Gauntlett gave them a third minute lead which was doubled shortly afterwards by Annabel Johnson, before Helen Dermody added a brace after the break and Jade Brook rounded off the scoring.
Plymouth Argyle notched up their first win of the season, 2-1 away to Queen's Park Rangers who are still seeking their first points after another narrow defeat. Mollie Taylor scored both goals for Argyle to give her side three important points, with Rangers' reply coming from Jo Wilson.
