Kerys heads late winner for Birmingham
 Women's Football News 27 Sep 2015

Notts County 0 Birmingham City 1 (Harrop 88)
Birmingham City continued their excellent sequence of results and moved themselves out of the bottom two with victory at Meadow Lane, thanks to a late goal from Kerys Harrop.

Relegation haunted for a large part of the season, the late kick off meant that the Blues' safety was assured before kick off with the news that Bristol Academy had been beaten at Manchester City.

Alex Greenwood rattled the crossbar for County early on, but luck seemed to be against the home side as Jess Clarke saw her low curling shot strike the post.

Birmingham struggled to get a foothold in the game, but for all the home side's possession, it was the Blues who came closest when Karen Carney rattled the bar with a free kick before Kerys Harrop missed the rebound. Greenwood again went close but was thwarted by Birmingham goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley as the game went into the half time with the scoreline goalless.

The England international, playing in a more advanced role, had the opening chance of the second half for Notts after intercepting a pass but her shot was well saved by Baggaley.

The home team were notably getting frustrated with their failure to carve out the opening goal and Birmingham began to edge their way into the game. With just minutes remaining, the deadlock was finally broken as a Carney corner was nodded home by Harrop with Birmingham snatching victory to leave the crowd stunned by the culmination of their last home game.
