Sporting Club Albion completed a good week for themselves by returning to the top of the table with a 4-1 victory over Newcastle Utd.
Leigh Dugmore kept up her fine start to the season by scoring a hat-trick and an own goal completed their tally, with Beth Gardener replying for the home side.
Derby County are in second place, on goal difference, following their 6-0 win away to Guiseley AFC Vixens. Natasha Hughes and Hannah Ward ensured that Derby led by two goals inside ten minutes, with Lauren Steadman adding a further two before half time. Steadman completed her hat-trick just after the break and Melissa Johnson rounded off the scoring.
Nottingham Forest bounced back from their midweek defeat to beat Nuneaton Town 2-0 and keep themselves just behind the top three. Natasha Meade opened the scoring for Forest during the first half and in-form striker Andi Bell added the second after the break.
Preston North End are in the top half of the table following a 4-1 success at Huddersfield Town. Preston led at half time through a goal from Lagan Makin and they went on to add further strikes by Melissa Ball, Keeleigh Savage and Ella Schickhoff before Sarah Dobby grabbed a late consolation for the home side.
