New female football on Canvey Island
 Women's Football News 30 Sep 2015
England 'Lionesses' have inspired a new regular female-only Mars Just Play 'Kickabout' session in Canvey Island which could introduce a new generation of players to try the game for the first time, or to return after a spell on the sidelines.
It's hoped the recent achievements of England's Women's Team at the FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada will inspire females aged 16+ in the surrounding areas to enjoy brand new sessions every Monday at the 3G Football Centre at Waterside Farm Leisure Centre.
They'll be coached by Island Girls FC from 2nd November between 7:00 and 8:00pm, and the Kickabouts are open to players of all abilities. Island's Paul Lowther explained: "The sessions are perfect for those who haven't played in a while. There's absolutely no commitment as other 'Just Players' attend once a month, while some play every week.
"Just Play Kickabouts are great for those who want to play without having to honour a weekly game or a complicated league. Sessions are flexible and sociable and an FA-qualified Just Play Organiser will ensure there is fun on the pitch, whatever the level of fitness or skill."
Cllr Tom Skipp, Castle Point Cabinet Member for Leisure, added: "We are really pleased to be working with the Essex County FA and Island Girls to deliver this FA Mars Just Play Female Centre at Waterside Farm Leisure Centre. This new activity is an excellent opportunity that gives the casual footballer a chance to just turn up-to a venue and play football."
The Just Play Kickabout is recreational football at its best. It's about turning-up for an hour of exercise and a bit of fun for just £2 per session. It's football for those who can't or don't want to commit to an eight-month long season of matches and training. There's no pressure as it's just a fun kickabout with mates. For those who are eager, there will be advise on links to exit routes and opportunities to take their football a step further.
