Woolton Ladies v Boldon Ladies
 Women's Football News 9 Oct 2015
SSE Women's FA Cup - Road to the Final
Woolton Ladies continued their Cup run in the last round with a 4-2 victory over Mersey Girls, thanks to a Danielle Gibson hat-trick and Rachel Carney. They were rewarded with another home tie in the draw and will face North West League opponents again but this time from Division One North, against Boldon Ladies who beat Prudhoe Town 5-0 with goals from Ally Ferris (2), Jade Murray, Alex Ross and Kay Mills.
Boldon Ladies were formed in 2005 after a lot of the younger girls had made their way up through the girls team and had reached an age whereby Ladies football was the next step. For a few years, Boldon remained in the DCFA Women's League, usually finishing mid-table but not really moving towards promotion. However things had to change in 2009-10 season after a run of embarrassing defeats and major lack of player numbers, it was a make or break decision as to whether Boldon were to fold or make one last go of it - and make one last go of it they did.
Adam Ferris came in as Team Manager and turned the team around, they started attracting more players, both new and of Boldon old returning to the club where it all started for them. The next few years were spent building up the squad and improving the players and their game. In the 2013-14 season Adam brought in Coach Ken Thompson to help with training and to step it up another level. The Boldon Family was born! The confidence in the team was now brimming and this was the start of what would be two successful league promotions back to back, not to mention the high ratio of matches played and won in both league and cup competitions. Boldon are now competing in the North East League Premier Division, which is the highest league they have ever competed in, and they continue to challenge their way through this league, always looking for that next promotion.
Recently this year, Boldon Ladies organised a friendly football match at their home ground, The Villa, Boldon to celebrate ten years since the Ladies team was formed. This match brought together all current and ex-Boldon players for a Current Boldon vs Old Skool Boldon game, playing in the new and old strips. This was a very proud moment for the Club on their tenth anniversary. Boldon are currently sponsored by Bouchon restaurant in Hexham and JB Tiles in Ashington.
Adam Ferris is still the club's manager with Ken Thompson as coach, and Tori Sheriff is club captain. John Weaver undertakes the role of Secretary and Joanne Ross is photographer, and the team's longest serving player is Kay Mills, who has played for the ladies team since it was established in 2005 and played for the Under 14s and 16s coming up through the ranks since she was a girl.
