Brighton rocked by Rangers
 Women's Football News 26 Oct 2015
Queen's Park Rangers recorded the result of the day with a shock 2-1 win over Southern Division leaders Brighton & Hove Albion.
Rangers went into the game with only one point to their name whilst Brighton sported a 12-match unbeaten record and after a goalless first half, the Seagulls broke the deadlock five minutes after the restart when Amy Taylor slotted home a neat finish. However, four minutes later, Rangers were level when Danielle Puddefoot scored from the penalty spot and Jo Wilson then gave them a lead which they held on to. The result also takes Martino Chevannes' side off the bottom of the table on goal difference.
Cardiff City Ladies closed to within one point of Brighton after winning 3-1 away to Plymouth Argyle, who slip to the foot of the table. Hope Suominen netted twice and Kerry Bartlett the other for Cardiff before an improved second half performance from Argyle saw Danielle Salt pull a goal back for them.
Charlton Athletic scored six times without reply away to Forest Green Rovers and are a further point adrift in third place. Five of the goals came in the first half, leading scorer Gemma Shepherd netting twice along with Jenny Newman and two own goals. Stef Simmons added the sixth early in the second half to round off the scoring for the Addicks.
Two of the other contenders met each other and the points were shared as Coventry Utd and Portsmouth battled out a 1-1 draw. Pompey took the lead through a first half goal from Gemma Hillier but a well contested game ended even when Coventry equalised through Amber Hughes after the break.
West Ham Utd are out of the bottom three following a 1-0 victory over Lewes. The two teams had shared four goals when meeting seven days earlier but the return meeting went the way of the Hammers, courtesy of a second half goal from Paige Anderson-James (see match report).
